Turning compliance struggle into success: How eCom revamped learning for real results

Recently, we had the chance to do just that—turning a major compliance hurdle into a success story.
Our client had a critical compliance requirement for both their staff and contractors. But they were hitting a wall—learner engagement was dismal, and completion rates were dragging their compliance efforts down. Despite trying different tactics to boost participation, nothing seemed to stick. Frustrated and running out of ideas, the client turned to us during a routine catch-up and asked, "Can eCom help?" Our team quickly jumped in, working closely with the client to uncover what was holding learners back and crafting a winning strategy.

The plan?
We started by reviewing their current learning resources and requirements. Then we analysed existing learner feedback, which gave us some initial clues. But we went further, launching a detailed survey to hear directly from the learners about what was blocking their progress.
And the feedback was clear: "I don’t have time; it’s too lengthy," "I can’t access it on my phone," "It’s too detailed and complicated," and "I can’t learn at the pace I need or want to."
The message?
The current training, while comprehensive, wasn’t hitting the mark for learners. The training itself was a hefty three-hour package, split into two audio-driven eLearning courses loaded with technical language. Many of the learners, who weren’t office-based, relied on mobile devices to access the training, yet the audio format made it tough for them to learn at their own pace. Some didn’t have speakers or headphones, making it even harder to engage. Clearly, something had to change. So, we got to work.
The solution?
We revamped the entire learning programme to meet the needs of this varied audience. We stripped down the technical language without comprising the integrity of the content. We ditched the reliance on audio and broke the material into bite-sized, logical sections. This gave learners the freedom to learn how and when they wanted. And, of course, we made sure the entire programme was fully mobile-friendly. We also revitalised the interactions, knowledge checks, and assessments, adding relatable scenarios that brought the content to life. The result? A dynamic, engaging eLearning experience that resonated with every learner.
Fast forward six months, and the results speak for themselves. Learner engagement has skyrocketed to over 95%, driving compliance levels to an all-time high. The organisation is now in a position to confidently demonstrate compliance, something they’ve never achieved before. And the feedback? Absolutely glowing: "This learning has helped me understand the why," "I was able to dip in and out over a few days—what a difference," "I didn’t know learning on the phone could be so effective," and "The stories make such a difference; now I feel like I get it."
